It appears that there are many ways to combine 25 "watch words"

Sep 07, 2014,15:54 PM

Greetings again Cholack,

Thanks for continuing along on this quest!

Of course we can use any words we like in the Seiko Spring Drive description.
And you are right - at some point the word QUARTZ will appear in the conversation.
I feel perhaps that it repels some watch lovers, just like the coil block repels the glide wheel.

Now there's an irony to ponder,

Does describing Spring Drive precisely result in a smooth repulsion of the potential customer ? (no tic toc, no A-B decision needed)  just a smooth transition gliding away from the Spring Drive towards another mechanical watch? ... well, that's another subject.

Your two submissions were:

"A Spring Drive watch is...a hybrid quartz-mechanical watch that is regulated by feedback on a glide wheel connected to the gear train"
"A Spring Drive watch is...a hybrid mechanism that adapts mechanical power from the mainspring to power a timing circuit, which regulates a glide wheel connected to the gear train"

Keeping the Q word intact, could they be co-joined into:

"A Spring Drive watch is...a hybrid quartz-mechanical device whose mainspring powers the hands AND a digital timing circuit, which smoothly regulates a glide wheel, and thus the watch".

Does that work?

Mike
