The next day, we found ourselves at a Seiko Epson facility ...

Oct 17, 2014,17:06 PM

where we learned about wind chimes, and they forced me to wear this watch and listen to it ring

We saw how totally integrated their facility was - making cases, movements, dials, hands, etc. (although we didn't get to see the herd of Seiko alligators)

Assembly of the 9F quartz movement is done just as carefully as any other GS movement (in case you were wondering, Ron)

The Micro Studio is fantastic

I was amazed to discover the folks who build these movements have been following our "Spring Drive in 25 words or less" thread
There are the coils that generate and repulse, and there's the tiny chip that does all the calculations

After a tour of the Astron GPS assembly line, we took a taxi and 3 trains back to civilization

where (in true PuristS fashion) we tackled some bivalves, and won.

Please come back for our full report.

Unfortunately today we are heading for Narita Airport, and the long flight home...

I append a photo with the Today's Salad blacked out (I have no other way of highlighting it). You will need to go back to the original photo to see the words blacked out. :-) Usually, they have a "Catch of the Day" listing for fresh fish...and in japan so...

Thanks for the translations!

I didn't notice any squirming at that last restaurant, although the live lobster (head) at the Ken/Casey dinner did cause Mrs C some distress... but not enough to prevent us from tackling the oysters on our last night in Tokyo ...
