Seiko 5 Quartet

I was out for a stroll today in Hong Kong Central pursuing a frequent activity of watch window shopping and I stopped into a dealer that carried Seiko.  They had a large collection of Seiko 5's, which I often buy randomly when the look of a particular piece appeals to me.  It is hard to beat the price.

I had seen this particular model with a black dial (SNZG15K1) and green dial (SNZG09J1) before, but not the blue (SNZG11J1) or the cream (SNZG07J1). I think these are really clean, good looking pieces.  The model has an attractive, bead blasted matte stainless case measuring 40.5mm, 23 jewel automatic movement, date/date display and luminous dial.

In any case, I went back and forth on each color, really favoring the blue version.

It struck me during the debate in my head that these would make great first mechanical watches for my 4 sons (12, 14, 17 and 18).  Two of the four kids have long wanted me to let them wear some of my pieces, but the responsibility vs. value ratio simply isn't quite right yet.

So I bought all four.

Now the tough part is matching color to kid!

Lume is crazy bright as well.

Blue version of the snzh53k1 and can't complain. Everybody comments on how expensive it looks. Enough to buy the white dial version for my wife who has small wrists and she loves wearing it too. Again, exceptional value. Cheers Steve
