SEIKO Presage Urushi SARW013

Feb 19, 2015,04:13 AM

Here you go!

Very, very nice and well made.  Just found time to open the box smile
These photos don't do justice - sorry for the bad lighting and cheapy compact camera....

Gold hands give you the image of Maki-E, which is the art form often used with Urushi (the name of the material)....

As always, nicely done case....

The gold one stitch on the strap matches very well as a total....

Three hands version maybe nicer to many, but I like the more gold on this power reserve version - the subdial on 6h is date.

Need very good macro lens to capture the thickness of the silver index as well as the hands and gold power reserve meter, on the black urushi dial....

Nice!

Ken

Oh , Ken-san bought power-reserve model . I felt 3 hands model better , because it has more elegance of MAKIE . Sorry for late to up my report . Tomo

Actually, I bought both :-)

Your English is fine, Tomo-san. Very beautiful. But you are right - not easy to tell this is "Urushi". But black and gold contrast is so nice. Three hands must be nice as well.... Ken

Thank you very much!

Both !? , it's perfect decision ! Really difficult to realize that it's urushi ... I hope many people feel urushi is beautiful .

I'm one who finds . . .

. . . depths of beauty in urushi. I wasn't planning on getting a Seiko, but it was love at first sight the moment I saw Ken's original thread regarding these limited edition models. Cordially, Art

On Lunar New Year, Seiko Urushi watch gets applause from Mrs MTF

 By: MTF : February 19th, 2015-04:53
Ken, The current Mrs MTF just saw your Seiko Urushi watch and gives her approval. Enough said! The watch is Mrs MTF Sealed: a plus. She particularly liked the oh-so-Japanese understatement of single gold stitch on the leather strap to echo the gold maki-e...

Really, really NOT bad!

I am glad Mrs. MTF approves :-) Ken

Now that we're getting a better view . . .

. . . my appreciation for the dial lay-out of this version has risen. My initial impressions were in favor of the simpler model, but there's something to be said for an expanse of urushi dial uninterrupted by a date aperture. Most impressive, Ken. Getting...

This version has its own strength...

 By: KIH : February 19th, 2015-13:45
.. like you point out. More gold area (together with white area, white hands) makes it more like "Maki-E" atmosphere...

I was hoping some would share theirs

 By: jml_watches : February 19th, 2015-11:09
Hi I was hoping someone would get one & share some pictures. Getting both - wow! Looks like there's some real depth to the dial. What about the movement - is it better finished that most other Presages'? I did notice some striping on the rotor of your...

Movement finish is...

 By: KIH : February 19th, 2015-13:46
... don't expect too much... Not the greatest finish, but at this price point, I am not complaining together with its accuracy.... :-) Ken

Yup you're right

 By: jml_watches : February 20th, 2015-10:25
Hi Yeah you're right, think with this one its all about the dial and hands. Cheers JML

So true.... :-) [nt]

It is nice to see real world pictures of this one. The black and gold work very well. Congrats!

Thanks!

Urushi Dial has been something I had wanted (Maki-e dial is too expensive for me!) and this was it! SEIKO's mechanical superiority (price/ performance ratio) and traditional craftsmanship - great combination! Ken

Beautiful dial!

I like the model with power reserve that you is the size of the case? Would love to see it in the metal Is it available outside Japan? Best henry

The spec says....

 By: KIH : February 21st, 2015-19:33
... 40.5mm. Normally, I am a <40mm guy, but this one deserves exception from the rule :-) Yes, I think the more "gold" area, the more "Maki-E" like :-) The power reserve version also has more white area (including the hands for the power reserve and d...

Thanks

for the information! 40.5 is not a problem with me although i have a small wrist will try to visit my local AD and hope he's able to snare one from Japan best henry

I hope you can!

matching but different - enough that you can enjoy the similarity but also look for the differences. A great start on a collection. I wonder if Seiko has more models coming in this line? Cazalea

Handsome, indeed. Impatiently awaiting . . .
