Seiko: Seiko 4S movement family

Wanted to share some information and research that I've gathered on the Seiko 4S movement (not Seiko 4R that are currently equipping the low end Seiko automatics). This movement is found in the Credor 4S76 that Mike shared recently on the forum as well. ***Please note that this was originally writte

Seiko: Nice catch!

The 4s76 movt is the better decorated variant of the 4s36 found in the SARN001. It's not the only time that Seiko did this. The same relationship is also found between the handwinding only 4s29 and 4s79 movements, etc. Curiously enough, the accuracy spec is the same for both 4s76 and 4s36. This is t

It subsequently got diluted with watches using quartz and stainless steel models, not the mention the recent "Brightz Ananta" brand dilution as well. However its great that you did this pie

Seiko: How about a watch that I waesnt looking for, but somehow fell into my hands?

Earlier on in my watch collecting hobby, I gradually gotten to know about the existence of the 4S family of movements, mainly due to Don's excellent review of 1 particular 4s watch. His excellent review can still be seen here . The watch in question is the SARN001 with the rarely seen 4S36 movement

Seiko: Seiko Historical Collection the year 2000

Hi all, I wanted to share 2 recent acquisitions from a highly under-rated collection by Seiko in 2000. Pity not much information nor discussion can be found regarding this collection. I have written briefly about this collection before and would like to know more. Does any members here have other ex
